한국에 거주하는 외국인주민 수는 100만 명을 넘어 총인구의 2% 를 상회하고 있으며 그 증 가는 지속되고 있다 다문화사회로 진입한 한국에서 진행되고 있는 대부분의 다문화교육은 다 문화주의에 입각하기보다는 외국인주민을 대상으로 한국문화를 주입시키는 동화주의에 치우쳐 있다. 따라서 한국인의 다문화역량 향상에 기여하지 못하고 있다. 그동안 계속되어 왔던 단일 민족 전통에 대한 교육도 비판의 과정을 거치지 않고 폐기되었음에도 불구하고 외국인주민에 대한 차별은 크게 개선되지 않고 있다. 이런 상황을 개선하기위해 한국인을 대상으로 하는 다 문화교육이 필요하다. 한국에 있는 500여개의 등록된 박물관 중에는 소장한 문화유산을 이용 하여 한국인을 대상으로 다문화주의에 입각한 다문화역량 강화 교육을 수행할 수 있는 곳들이 다수 있다. 그중에서도 국립중앙박물관은 최고의 교육 환경을 갖추고 있다. 1980년대부터 지 속적으로 외국의 문화유산에 대한 전시회를 개최하여 왔고, 특히 용산으로 이전한 이후에는 아 시아 몇 개국의 문화유산을 상설 전시하는 아시아관의 개설하였으며, 세계문명권 위주의 특별 전도 매년 2차례 이상 개최하고 있다 이와 같이 타문화를 이해할 수 있는 다문화역량 강화교 육을 원활하게 수행할 수 있는 좋은 환경을 갖추었음에도 불구하고 한국박물관계에서 차지하는 국립중앙박물관이라는 위상에 맞는 다문화교육을 수행하지 못하고 있다. 이는 다문화교육에 대 한 방향성을 수립하기 위한 치열한 고민의 부족과 다문화교육 프로그램을 수행할만한 역량을 갖 춘 사람들을 참여시키지 못하였기 때문이다 결론적으로 국립중앙박물관의 다문화교육은 특별 한 차별성을 찾아볼 수 없다. 이를 극복하기 위해서는 외국인 주민만을 위한 다문화교육에서 벗 어나 한국인의 다문화역량 강화를 위한 다문화교육프로그램을 개발하여 한국인을 대상으로 하 는 다문화교육을 지속적으로 실시해야 한다. 이와 함께 한국박물관계를 선도하는 차원에서 다문 화교육을 실시하는 타 박물관들에게 다문화교육의 나아갈 방향을 제시하는 역할도 하여야 한다.
The number of foreign resident living in Korea is over one million, it is excess of 2% of total population and the increase is being continue. It means Korea enter at a multicultural society. Almost of multicultural education program are still based on cultural assimilation in spite of almost of them looks 버ce based on multiculturalism. Even though a single national tradition was abandoned, discrimination and misunderstanding against foreign resident are not improved. These are the reason to need the multicultural education in order to strengthen multicutural literacy of Korean. There are more than 500 registered museums in Korea. A number of museum which possess foreign objects can perform multiαltural educatiom program based on multiculturalism. Among them the National Museum of Korea has the best educational environment for multicultural education program. Special exhibition for the cultural heritage of international has been hold continuously since 1980. “Asian gallery" is opened based on Southeast Asia, South Asia, Northeast Asia’s cultural heritage and special exhibition of the world civilization hold more than 2 tirnes since relocated to Yongsan However multicultural education program in the National Museum of Korea is not sufficient compare to their environment because they do not have specific rnission for multicultural education and do not join specialist on multicultural education department to develop program In order to perform role of center museum in Korea the National Museum of Korea focuses their attention on Korean and join with more specialist of multicultural education and give their output to other museum.
