This article is to explain on the ongines and developments of the States' Rightes until the antebellum in the Unites States. States' Rights and their meanings have been interpreted very much differently by American historians. Also, there are many enormous volume of literatures about vistas of States' Rights. In this article, firstly I suggest why States' Rights thoughts and movements happened in the United States. Colonial economic and political situation, agrarianism-oriented republicanism and a new law philosophy, I think, had effected the formation of States' Rights. Specially, the creative American sovereignty thought, Imperium in Imperium in Imperio: supreme power within supreme power could have been formated during the colonial and independent struggle era. Next, I tried to understand the development of States' Rights in America during 1766-1865. Specially I focused such the several important several periods and accidents as the Article of Confederation, Constitutional ratification, the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions, Age of Jackson, and finally the outbreak of the Civil War. Each States' Rights event had been happened by many differently causes and its effect also are very different results. For example, President Andrew Jackson strived to fufill people's voice in the political area. He thought that the preservation of States' Rights against Union's was indispensible precondition to achieve people-oriented democracy. On the other hand, during 18605 the Southern section said the Constitution of 1789 never granted the supremacy of Union's Sovereignty against States' Rights. Southern States thought that States' Sovereignty theory was the most important political economy cause to protect people's right.
