This research tried to measure the pupils's learning motivation and academic
achievement by integrating program of moral education class and fine art class in
craft class. The research sample was 56 students of the elementary grade 5
students in Chunho-dong, Gangdong-gu, coeducational classes (class 1 and class 4).
The period of research was from the 22nd of June in 2009 to the 14th of July in
2009, and class 1 did 8 classes and class 4 did 4 classes. For the experimental
group, it was applied integrating approach of art education and moral education
program created by this research conductor. On the other hand, in control group,
it was applied traditional teaching-learning method program for the comparison
between experimental group and control group on learning motivation and
academic achievement. The sampling method was independent sample of t-test for
inspecting the former homogeneity of each sample, and every sample was analyzed
by SPSS v. 12.0, statistics package program.
The result of the research is stated below:
The experimental group which did integrating class of fine art and moral
education was higher than control group who did ordinary craft class in terms of
the average score of the learning motivation and academic achievement. Through this
research, it revealed that the newly created program designed by research conductor
was helped the pupils to experience moral education in life, to increase the capacity
of observation, to understand better and deeper the matters, to be fulfilled the
expression of feeling and academic curiosity through visualized and experienced art
activities. In other words, integrating art education with moral education was more
elevating the learning motivation and academic achievement than traditional class.
