국문초록

This study investigated to strengthen the understanding of multi-culture by conducting survey to collect information from art teachers and professors about the degree of understanding Korean culture on art and multi-culture, and sugges.ec the strategies in art educational context. The study included 1) an educational aim and cultural exchange (education in the international society, cultural education in a multi-cultural age), 2) art education and the understanding of culture (cultural inheritance and education, artworks and cultural elements, cultural art inheritance and art education). The analysis of finding of the survey provided the opinions of two hundred twenty two kindergarten, primary, middle-school, high-school art teachers and art professors on multi-culture and Korean art culture including Korean traditional art culture. The recommendations for strengthening the understanding of multi-culture were followings; 1) a comprehensive understanding on Korean art culture and multi-culture with its concept and the meaning to us in a global society should be first regarded in organizing and developing in-service teacher education programs; 2) a curriculum and instructional materials including programs which are appropriate for the degree of children's development should be developed for direct application to the educational settings. And finally, the contents of Korean art culture and multi-culture should be emphasized and reinforced in the art textbooks based on the 7th Korean National Art Curriculum.
