이 연구는 한국교육종단연구 데이터를 활용하여 대학입시 준비 경험이 대학진학에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 현행 대입전형들이 다양화됨에 따라서 학생들의 봉사활동, 경시대회, 사 교육참여, 학부모 지원 등의 다양한 준비 행위를 확대시킬 수 있다는 점에 주목하여, 이들 경험이 대학진학 결과에 어떤 영향을 미치는가를 파악하고자 하였다. 이와 함께 대학진학 결과에 대해서 가정배경의 영향이 대학입학 준비 활동을 매개로 하여 나타나는지, 그리고 소외계층과 지역에 따라서 대학입학 준비 활동의 영향력이 다르게 나타나는지를 검토하고자 하였다. 분석결과, 학생배경과 성취수준이 통제되더라도 학부모의 진학설명회 참여와 학생의 경시대회 수상실적은 지방 4년제 대비 수도권 4년제 대학진학 가능성을 높게 하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 가정배경의 영향력은 대학입시 준비활동을 매개로 하여 지방 4년제 대비 수 도권 4년제 대학 진학 가능성에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 이 중에서 경시대회 수상실 적의 효과는 소외계층과 읍면지역 학생에게 더 작게 나타나는 경향을 보였다. 이런 결과들 은 대학입시 준비 활동에 따라 대학진학 결과에 차이가 나타날 수 있으며, 별도의 준비경험 을 요구하는 대입전형들은 가정배경의 영향을 확대하고 소외계층에게 불리하게 작용할 가능 성이 있음을 시사한다.
This study investigated various factors associated with higher education entrance, using data from Korean Education Longitudinal Study(KELS). Especially, this study focused on a wide variety of activities preparing for entrance admission such as voluntary service, an award-winning career, private tutoring, and parents′ supports for getting the information about entrance. we examined the impact of these activities on university entrance. And it is paid attention to the extent that the probability of access to higher education is depend on student’s backgrounds and the mediating effects of these activities for the entrance examination. The result confirms that student background variables are positively associated with probability of entrance into university of Seoul metropolitan region after student’s ability are controlled. Also, parent’s supporting activities and an award-winning career can be a factor to increase the probability of entrance into university of Seoul metropolitan region. Student’s backgrounds affect the opportunity of university entrance mediated by preparing activities. On the one hand, the effect of an award-winning is differentiated according to student background and region. These findings imply that the admission system which requires student's various activities has limitations for equal opportunity of higher education.
