This study aimed to examine reaction features on mother and child
drawings of children from one-parent family and two-parent family. The
research subjects were 63 children in one-parent family and 63 children in
two-parent family in grades 1∼3 of 2 schools in Seoul and 1 elementary
school in P City, Gyeonggi-do by random sampling. For an accurate analysis,
the analysis index of Babasatz(1997) was used for study. The collected data
was analyzed using SPSS WIN 18.0, The findings of this study are as
below. Firstly, mother and child drawings of children from one-parent family
and two-parent family had statistically significant differences in the drawing
index reaction feature for size of drawing. Secondly, there were significant
differences in the age of children, their thought and behavior of mother and
child after drawing. Accordingly, this study is meaningful in that it can
figure out the usability as an projection test to examine the mental
foundation of children from one-parent family with mother and child drawing,
an emerging area of study in the country.
