The purpose of this study is to perform a comparative analysis of the effect of
governance power to national success among 50 nations focused on R.O.K and
D.P.R.K In order to measure governance power, such variables as civil voice,
political stability, and rule of law are used. To measure national success, the
reversed scores of the Failed States Index is utilized. The results of the SPSS
analysis indicate that political stability (0.370) has the strongest effect on national
success, civil voice (0.330) has the second largest effect, and the rule of law
(0.300) has the weakest effect on national success. The governance power scores
of D.P.R.K is extremely low compared with those of other 50 countries. The
implication of the research result is that it is imperative that Korea reduce the
severe gap between the two Koreas in preparation for the reunification of the
Korean Peninsular.
