The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of Korean traditional play activities based on the
child's body contact on child-teacher relationship and his/her peer competence. This study was conducted
by an experimental research design. The subject of this study are 30 three-year-old young children of 2
class, having a similar standard of living, of 1 kindergarten located in U-si. For measuring tools,
Student-Teacher Relationships Scale, Profile of Peer Relations were used. The experiment period was from
July 06, 2012 to Oug. 31, 2012, and the activity was performed two times per week, for 8 weeks. t-test
and reliability analysis were conducted by using SPSS WIN 19.0 for the data analysis. The findings of
the study were as follows. First, there was a significant effect of child-teacher relationship according to the
Korean traditional play activities based on body contact. Second, there was a significant effect of peer
competence according to the Korean traditional play activities based on body contact. In conclusion, the
educational value of Korean traditional play based on body contact should be more widely recognized, and
they need to be used more at educational sites.
