The purpose of this study is to examine the Korean students' different experience of
university life according to different social class of family in Korea. Although there are many
studies of the relationships between educational opportunity and social class in higher education,
the students' different experiences in the university is not received attentions. This study
attempts, using qualitative research methods, to explain the differences of university experiences
by social class of family. The field of this research's is a women's university in Seoul, and
nineteen students are divided by their parent's occupational status and educational level. This
research shows that students' experience is differentiated by family background in the respective
of English class, relationship of peer group, extracurricular activities and life(career) planning.
The researcher discuss participants' experiences through cultural capital theory and sociology of
youth.
