The purpose of this study was to suggest the ways to meet the demand for the rooms for foreign tourists during the 2002 WorldCup. This study focused on the basic concept of the Korean budget tourist hotel which differs from other countries. This paper examines the different grades of budget hotels in Korea. This paper examines the status of the lodging industry in 10 cities which will hold the 2002 WorldCup. And also this paper analyze the problem of a shortage of rooms for foreign tourists. The results of this analysis showed that there will be a deficiency in the supply of rooms for foreign tourists during the games. This means that the expansion of budget tourist hotels with government support will be needed to meet the demand for rooms for the 2002 WorldCup Games in Korea.
