고령화사회, 고령사회로 특징지어지는 현대사회에 노인복지는 모든 사람들의 관심영역으로 노인들이 최적의 노년기를 맞이하는 것은 중요하다. 노인의 임파워먼트를 위한 효과적인 수발과 노인들이 직면하는 문제들을 해결하기 위해서는 노인들의 문제가 무엇인지 알아야 한다. 이러한 노인의 문제는 신체적, 심리적, 사회적인 관점에서 볼 수 있을 것이다. 이 글에서는 노인의 사회심리적인 영역을 강조하였다. 노인수발의 방법으로 노인전문 사회복지사는 노인과의 올바른 관계형성을 통한 사랑과 관심으로 노인들을 수발하는 것을 알아야하며 한 인격체로써의 노인의 중요성을 인식해야하고 노인의 자긍심을 높여야 한다. 노인들이 사랑받고, 수용되고 인정받고 있다는 것을 느낄 때 그들의 자긍심은 높아지고 자긍심은 신체건강 뿐 아니라 정신건강에도 영향을 미치는 등 노인들의 복지에 중요한 역할을 하게 된다.
Since the welfare of older adults is everybody\'s concern, it is important for older adults to experience optimal aging. To help older adults and to solve the problems that older adults encounter we need to know the problems they face. As a feature of older adult, we need to look at it in the perspective of physical, psychological and social aspects. In this article, the psycho-social aspect of older adults was emphasized. As a way of caring of older adults, social workers who are aging specialists should know caring with love, recognize the importance of older adults as human beings and raise the self-esteem of older adults. When older adults feel that they are loved, accepted and recognized, their self-esteem will be raised and it will be good not only for their physical health but also their mental health. key words : Empowerment, caring, self-esteem, welfare of elderly
