Suppression of Bipolaris Stem Rot on Cactus by Heat-inactivated Conidial Suspension of Bipolaris cactivora
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 7 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2010, 26권 3호 4 231-237 (7 pages)
The heat-inactivated (at 121 oC for 20 min) conidial suspension of Bipolaris cactivora (HICS) was evaluated for the control of Bipolaris stem rot of cactus caused by B. cactivora. Severe rot symptoms were developed on the cactus stem discs inoculated with B. cactivora from 5 days after inoculation. However, only small brownish spots developed on the stem discs treated with HICS 2 days prior to the pathogen inoculation. HICS also reduced symptom development on cactus stem discs inoculated with... -
The WRKY Superfamily of Rice Transcription Factors
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 5 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2010, 26권 2호 2 110-114 (5 pages)
WRKY transcription factors are known to be involved in many different biological processes including plant response to biotic stress, abiotic stress, and plant development. WRKY proteins are extensively studied in Arabidopsis. Recently, reports on WRKY proteins are rapidly increasing in the other plant species, especially in rice. Therefore, this review will discuss the function of rice WRKY proteins reported so far. -
Characteristics of 14-3-3 Proteins and Their Role in Plant Immunity
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 7 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2010, 26권 1호 1 1-7 (7 pages)
Phosphorylation is a major post-translational modification of proteins that regulate diverse signal transduction pathways in eukaryotic cells. 14-3-3 proteins are regulatory proteins that bind to target proteins in a phosphorylation-dependent manner and have been shown to play an important role in plant growth and development, primary metabolism, and signal transduction. Because phosphorylation plays a critical role in signal transduction pathways to trigger plant immunity, involvement of 14-3-3... -
Effect of Delayed Inoculation After Wounding on the Development of Anthracnose Disease Caused by Colletotrichum acutatum on Chili Pepper Fruit
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 8 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2008, 24권 4호 4 392-399 (8 pages)
Detached chili pepper fruits were inoculated with the conidial suspension of Colletotrichum acutatum JC-24 simultaneously (simultaneous inoculation, SI) and at delayed time (delayed inoculation, DI) after wounding with (delayed wound inoculation, DWI) or without additional wounding (delayed non-wound inoculation, DNI) at the inoculation time. Disease severity was significantly lowered by DNI, compared to SI. By DNI, the disease reduction rates were proportional with the length of delayed time,... -
Roles of Plant Proteases in Pathogen Defense
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 8 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2008, 24권 4호 1 367-374 (8 pages)
The genomes of plants contain more than 600 genes encoding a diverse set of proteases and the subunits of proteasomes. These proteases and proteasomes consist of plant proteolytic systems, which are involved in various cellular metabolic processes. Plant proteolytic systems have been shown to have diverse roles in defense responses, such as execution of the attack on the invading organisms, participation in signaling cascades, and perception of the invaders. In order to provide a framework for... -
Extraction and characterization of lignin from black liquor and preparation of biomass-based activated carbon therefrom
Daeyeon Kim, Jinsil Cheon, Jeonghoon Kim, Daekyun Hwang, Ikpyo Hong, Oh Hyeong Kwon, Won Ho Park, Donghwan Cho 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 8 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.22 14 81-88 (8 pages)
In the present study, biomass-based lignin was extracted from industrial waste black liquor and the extracted lignin was characterized by means of attenuated total reflectance- Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The extracted lignin was carbonized at different temperatures and then activated with steam at 850oC. The extracted lignin in powder state was transformed into a bulky carbonized lignin due to possible fusion between the lignin... -
Li-ion battery anodes from ginkgo leaf-derived nanoporous carbons rich in redox-active heteroatoms
Na Rae Kim, Hong Joo An, Young Soo Yun, Hyoung-Joon Jin 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 5 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.22 13 110-114 (5 pages)
Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have attracted increasing attention as a sustainable power source due to the rapid growth in mobile electronics and electric automobile markets, driven by increasing environmental awareness [1-4]. The electrochemical performance of LIBs is strongly dependent on the active electrode materials. Therefore, their continuing advanced development is of key importance to meet the expectations of the market [5-7]. Graphite, commonly used in LIB anodes, forms binary graphite...
