A Study on the Training System of Music Teachers in England, Australia and New Zealand
27 Pages
3 51-77 (27 pages)
New Zealand are based on the England education system formed during the England colonial period. The three countries' music teacher training system is operated as a system that completes both the music major and teaching course in the course of a degree, or after the course of a music major, and becomes a music teacher. The appointments of music teachers are carried out differently depending on the characteristics of the region after completing the qualification criteria at the national level. -
Epigenetic modification of α-N-acetylgalactosaminidase enhances cisplatin resistance in ovarian cancer
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 9 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2018, Vol.22 No.1 5 43-51 (9 pages)
Although cisplatin is one of the most effective antitumor drugs for ovarian cancer, the emergence of chemoresistance to cisplatin in over 80% of initially responsive patients is a major barrier to successful therapy. The precise mechanisms underlying the development of cisplatin resistance are not fully understood, but alteration of DNA methylation associated with aberrant gene silencing may play a role. To identify epigenetically regulated genes directly associated with ovarian cancer cisplatin... -
Electrophysiological characteristics of R47W and A298T mutations in CLC-1 of myotonia congenita patients and evaluation of clinical features

The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2017, Vol.21 No.4 10 439-447 (9 pages)
Myotonia congenita (MC) is a genetic disease that displays impaired relaxation of skeletal muscle and muscle hypertrophy. This disease is mainly caused by mutations of CLCN1 that encodes human skeletal muscle chloride channel (CLC-1). CLC-1 is a voltage gated chloride channel that activates upon depolarizing potentials and play a major role in stabilization of resting membrane potentials in skeletal muscle. In this study, we report 4 unrelated Korean patients diagnosed with myotonia congenita... -
Expression profile of mitochondrial voltage-dependent anion channel-1 (VDAC1) influenced genes is associated with pulmonary hypertension
TongZhou, HaiyangTang, YingHan, DustinFraidenburg, Young-WonKim, DongheeLee, JeongyoonChoi, HyoweonBang, Jae-HongKo 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2017, Vol.21 No.3 10 353-360 (8 pages)
Several human diseases have been associated with mitochondrial voltage-dependent anion channel-1 (VDAC1) due to its role in calcium ion transportation and apoptosis. Recent studies suggest that VDAC1 may interact with endothelium-dependent nitric oxide synthase (eNOS). Decreased VDAC1 expression may limit the physical interaction between VDAC1 and eNOS and thus impair nitric oxide production, leading to cardiovascular diseases, including pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). In this report, we... -
Regulation of retinal angiogenesis by endothelial nitric oxide synthase signaling pathway
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2016, Vol.20 No.5 11 533-538 (6 pages)
Angiogenesis plays an essential role in embryo development, tissue repair, inflammatory diseases, and tumor growth. In the present study, we showed that endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) regulates retinal angiogenesis. Mice that lack eNOS showed growth retardation, and retinal vessel development was significantly delayed. In addition, the number of tip cells and filopodia length were significantly reduced in mice lacking eNOS. Retinal endothelial cell proliferation was significantly... -
Effect of Vestibulosympathetic Reflex and Baroreflex on Expression of pERK in the Nucleus Tractus Solitarius following Acute Hypotension in Conscious Rats
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2014, Vol.18 No.4 11 353-358 (6 pages)
Control of blood pressure is maintained by the interaction between the arterial baroreflex and vestibulosympathetic reflex during postural changes. In this study, the contributions of vestibular receptors and baroreceptors to the maintenance of blood pressure following acute hypotension were compared in terms of phosphorylated extracellular regulated protein kinase (pERK) expression in the nucleus tractus solitaries (NTS). Expression of pERK in the NTS was measured in conscious rats that had... -
Neuronal Responses in the Globus Pallidus during Subthalamic Nucleus Electrical Stimulation in Normal and Parkinson's Disease Model Rats

The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2013, Vol.17 No.4 7 299-306 (8 pages)
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the subthalamic nucleus (STN) has been widely used as a treatment for the movement disturbances caused by Parkinson's disease (PD). Despite successful application of DBS, its mechanism of therapeutic effect is not clearly understood. Because PD results from the degeneration of dopamine neurons that affect the basal ganglia (BG) network, investigation of neuronal responses of BG neurons during STN DBS can provide informative insights for the understanding of the... -
c-Fos Expression in the Nucleus of the Solitary Tract in Response to Salt Stimulation in Rats

six subregions in each of bilateral NST were compared between applications of distilled water and different concentrations of NaCl to the tongue of experimental animals. From this study, salt stimulation with high concentration (1.0 M NaCl) induced significantly higher c-Fos expression in intermediate NST and dorsal-medial and dorsal-middle subregions of the NST compared to distilled water stimulation. The result represents the specific spatial distribution of salt taste perception in the NST. -

The functional expression of potassium (K) channels has electrophysiologically been studied in bone cells from several species, however, their identity and regulation of gene expressions in bone cells are not well known. In the present study, to investigate how K channel expressions are regulated by estrogen, we measured changes of transcript levels of various Ca2-activated (KCa) and ATP-sensitive K channels in rat osteoblastic ROS 17/2.8 cells after treatment with...
