Enhanced Tolerance of Chinese Cabbage Seedlings Mediated by Bacillus aryabhattai H26-2 and B. siamensis H30-3 against High Temperature Stress and Fungal Infections
Young Hee Lee, Su Jeong Jang, Joon-Hee Han, Jin Su Bae, Hyun-suk Shin, Hee Jin Park, Mee Kyung Sang, Song Hee Han, Kyoung Su Kim, Sang-W 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 12 Pages

Two rhizobacteria Bacillus aryabhattai H26-2 and B. siamensis H30-3 were evaluated whether they are involved in stress tolerance against drought and high temperature as well as fungal infections in Chinese cabbage plants. Chinese cabbage seedlings cv. Ryeokgwang (spring cultivar) has shown better growth compared to cv. Buram-3-ho (autumn cultivar) under high temperature conditions in a greenhouse, whilst there was no difference in drought stress tolerance of the two cultivars. In vitro growth of... -

in dose- and incubation time-dependent manners. Higher perosan doses (0.1 and 1%) caused lowered pH and phytotoxicity to detached leaves of two tomato cultivars Cupirang and Benekia 220 in aqueous solution. Treatment with 0.01% of Perosan delayed wilting symptom significantly in the detached leaves of two cultivars inoculated with R. pseudosolanacearum (107 cfu/ml). Soil drenching of 5% Perosan solution in pots caused severe tissue collapse of tomato seedlings at the... -
Views on Reciprocity in Friendships of Older Women in Assisted Living Facilities: An Exploratory Study
Victor G. Cicirelli 한국노년학연구회 한국노년학연구 22 Pages
한국노년학연구회 한국노년학연구 2003, 제 12권 2 5-26 (22 pages)
Based on exchange/equity theory, the study explored the views of older women in assisted living facilities regarding reciprocity of exchange of social support with a close friend. Study participants were 92 chronically ill older women aged 65 to 98. In individual interviews, participants responded to 4 vignettes depicting situations in which there was an imbalance of exchange with a friend. Background characteristics of the participants were also assessed. Qualitative analysis was used to... -
Supporting Preschool Children’s Early Writing with Self-Regulated Learning Strategies

of the findings results. Two-way repeated measure ANCOVA was employed and confirmed the effectiveness SRL intervention performance in early writing. In regression analyses, strategy such as planning and goal setting was confirmed as strong predictor for early writing performance. Data from the interview revealed that various SRL strategies were engaged by out-performing children from the experimental group and contributed to their early writing performance. The findings of this research provide ... -
Roles of teachers and peers in conflicts between Korean kindergarteners

intervened in about half of the conflicts and that conflicts tended to last longer when there was third party intervention than in other cases. Teachers appeared to be more effective mediators than peers because they played a more active role in the conflict resolution process and utilized a wider range of strategies. When teachers intervened, conflicts were more likely to result in a “win-win” resolution for both parties involved in the conflict. Implications of the findings are discussed. -
Postischemic Treatment with Aminoguanidine Inhibits Peroxynitrite Production in the Peroxynitrite Production in the Rat Hippocampus Following Transient Forebrain Ischemia

of aminoguanidine, a selective iNOS inhibitor, on the generation of peroxynitrite and delayed neuronal death occurring in the hippocampus following transient forebrain ischemia. Transient forebrain ischemia was produced in the conscious rats by four-vessel occlusion for 10 min. Treatment with aminoguanidine (100 mg/kg or 200 mg/kg, i.p.) or saline (0.4 ml/100 g, i.p.) was started 30 min following ischemia-reperfusion and the animals were then injected twice daily until 12 h before sacrifice....
