Diversity in Betasatellites Associated with Cotton Leaf Curl Disease During Source-To-Sink Movement Through a Resistant Host
The Plant Pathology Journal 6 Pages
6 47-52 (6 pages)
Cotton leaf curl is devastating disease of cotton characterized by leaf curling, vein darkening and enations. The disease symptoms are induced by DNA satellite known as Cotton leaf curl Multan betasatellite (CLCuMuB), dominant betasatellite in cotton but another betasatellite known as Chili leaf curl betasatellite (ChLCB) is also found associated with the disease. Grafting experiment was performed to determine if host plant resistance is determinant of dominant population of betasatellite in... -
Tick-borne rickettsial pathogens in questing ticks, removed from humans and animals in Mexico
Carolina G. Sosa-Gutierrez, Margarita Vargas-Sandoval, Javier Torres, Guadalupe Gordillo-P?rez 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
12 353-360 (8 pages)
Tick-borne rickettsial diseases (TBRD) are commonly encountered in medical and veterinary clinical settings. The control of these diseases is difficult, requiring disruption of a complex transmission chain involving a vertebrate host and ticks. The geographical distribution of the diseases is related to distribution of the vector, which is an indicator of risk for the population. A total of 1107 were collected by tick drag from forests, ecotourism parks and hosts at 101 sites in 22 of the 32... -
The current epidemiological status of infectious coryza and efficacy of PoulShot Coryza in specific pathogen-free chickens

Infectious coryza (IC) is an infectious disease caused by Avibacterium (Av.) paragallinarum. IC is known to cause economic losses in the poultry industry via decreased egg production in layers. Between 2012 and 2013, Av. paragallinarum was isolated from seven chicken farms by Chungbuk National University. We identified Av. paragallinarum, the causative pathogen of IC by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and serovar serotype A, by multiplex PCR. Antibiotic sensitivity tests indicated that a few... -

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and adenocarcinoma (AC) are the major histological types of non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC). Although both SCCs and ACs have been characterized histologically and clinically, the precise mechanisms underlying their migration and invasion are not yet known. Here, we address the involvement in NSCLC of the p21-associated kinase1 (Pak1)/LIM kinase1 (LIMK1)/cofilin pathway, which recently has been reported to play a critical role in tumor migration and invasion.... -
Effects of Cd2+ on the Contractility in the Antral Circular Muscle of Guinea-pig Stomach
8 Pages
4 129-136 (8 pages)
The effects of Cd2+ on spontaneous contraction, and the contractures induced by 0mM Na+, 60mM K+ and 10-6 M acetylcholine, 1mM caffeine were studied in order to elucidate diverse actions of Cd2+ on the Ca2+ mobilization related with contractility in the antral circular muscle of guinea pig stomach. Cd2+ inhibited the spontaneous contraction in a does dependent manner (10-6 M 10-4 M). Cd2+ (3 X 10-5M) suppressed 60 mM K+ induced contracture composed or a phasic and a tonic response and the... -
Pathogenicity of Bacillus Strains to Cotton Seedlings and Their Effects on Some Biochemical Components of the Infected Seedlings

Pathogenicity of eight Bacillus strains to seedlings of four cotton cultivars was evaluated under greenhouse conditions. Each of the tested cultivars was individually treated with powdered inoculum of each bacterial strain. Untreated seeds were planted as control treatments in autoclaved soil. Effects of the tested strains on levels and activities of some biochemical components of the infected seedlings were also assayed. The biochemical components included total soluble sugars, total soluble... -
Control Efficacy of Bacillus velezensis AFB2-2 against Potato Late Blight Caused by Phytophthora infestans in Organic Potato Cultivation

8 580-595 (16 pages)
Although late blight is an important disease in eco- friendly potato cultivation in Korea, it is highly depen- dent on the use of eco-friendly agricultural materials and the development of biological control technology is low. It is a necessary to develop an effective biocontrol agent to inactivate late blight in the field. AFB2-2 strain is a gram-positive with peritrichous flagella. It can uti- lize 20 types of carbon sources, like L-arabinose, and D- trehalose at 35°C. The optimal growth... -

Gom-chwi (Ligularia fischeri) is severely infected with Phytophthora drechsleri, the causal organism of Phy- tophthora root rot, an economically important crop disease that needs management throughout the cultiva- tion period. In the present study, Phytophthora root rot was controlled by using bacterial isolates from rhizo- sphere soils collected from various plants and screened for antagonistic activity against P. drechsleri. A total of 172 bacterial strains were isolated, of which, 49 strains...
