The ultrastructure of the gustatory sensilla and some other structures within epipharynx and hypopharynx of the adult of rice green leafhopper(Nephotettix cincticeps U.) were observed with the scanning and the transmission electron microscope. From the result of the study, 20 gustatory sensilla which are composed of 10 D-sensilla on the proximal precibarium, 8 P-sensilla on the wall of both sides of epipharyngeal basin and 2 H-sensilla in the food canal of the hypopharynx, were observed. Of them, each of D-sensilla and P-sensilla was composed of two different morphological types. Each one pair of nerve bundle being originated from D-sensilla and P-sensilla were also observed and the nerve bundle of D-sensilla was consisted of five nerve dendrites. It was observed that the precibarial pit and the epipharyngeal valve were inserted between D-sensilla and P-sensilla groups, and the dilator muscle of sucking pump with the longitudinal muscle and cross muscle were attached to the inner wall of the clypeus.
