99mTc-DMSA scintigram has been known to be useful in the assessment of quantitative renal image and renal morphology. But the quantitative renal uptake rate is difficult to estimate clinically because of a variety of factors such as correct dose of infused radiation, radiation decay, adjustment for kidney depth, and subtraction of background count. Therfore, we evaluated the correlation between the simple renal uptake rate taken in a positerior view of 99mTc-DMSA scintigram and the quantitative renal uptake rate in 25 randominzed volunteers admitted to Pusan National University Hospital. There was a statistically significant correlation between the simple renal uptake rate(x) and the quantitative renal uptake rate(y). The correlation formula is y=0.841 $ imes$ -4.5746(p<0.005). The two show excellent correlation, r=0.946. The quantitative renal uptake rate can be clinically calculated by measuring the 99mTc-DMSA simple renal uptake and correcting it with numerical values.
