Ethanol을 투여한 mouse 간에서 free radical 생성효소인 xanthine oxidase와 분해효소 활성에 미치는 sinigrin의 영향을 관찰하였다. Ethanol 투여에 의해 간 xanthine oxidase 활성은 대조군에 비해 증가하였으나 $NAD^+$ 의존성 xanthine dehydrogenase 활성은 감소하였다. 한편 sinigrin의 전처리는 ethanol 투여에 의해 증가되는 간 xanthine oxidase의 활성 및 조직 중의 과산화지질 함량을 감소시켰다. Free radical 분해효소인 superoxide dismutase와 catalase 활성을 관찰한 실험에서 sinigrin을 전처리한 실험군은 ethanol 단독 투여군에 비하여 유의적인 효소활성 변동을 나타나지 않았다.
The effect of sinigrin was investigated on xanthine oxidase and free radical scavenging enzymes in ethanol-treated mice. In vivo, the treatment of ethanol increased the activity of the $O_2$-dependent hepatic xanthine oxidase compared to those of the control group. Whereas the activity of the $NAD^+$-dependent xanthine dehydrogenase was decreased about 50 percent. The pretreatmemt of sinigrin reduced the increment of the activity of xanthine oxidase and hepatic lipid peroxide content in ethanol-treated mice. On the superoxide scavenging system, the superoxide dismutase activity with the treatment of ethanol showed the trend of increasing, whereas the sinigrin pretreatment did not affect the enzyme activity. The activity of catalase which is another scavenger was not influenced by the ethanol or sinigrin treatment.
