한국산 메뚜기류 8종의 핵형을 조사하기 위해 정원세포의 중기 체세포분열상과 정모세포의 감수분열상의 염색체를 air drying technique을 이용하여 분석하였다. 참어리삽사리 (Arcyptera coreana)는 n=9, 2n=17, 두꺼비메뚜기 (Trilophidia annulata), 애메뚜기 (Chorthippus brunneus), 우리벼메뚜기 (Oxya chinensis sinuosa), 등검은메뚜기 (Schrakiacris shirakii) , 팥중이 (Oedaleus infernalis) 등 다섯 종은 n=12, 2n=23, 풀무치 (Locusta migratoria)는 n=13, 2n=25, 그리고 콩중이 (Gastrimargus marmoratus)는 n=14, 2n=27로 나타나 그 수에 따라 4개의 group으로 구분되었다. Diakinesis 분열상을 조사한 결과 본 8종의 메뚜기류에서도 성염색체가 모두 XO형인 것으로 확인되었다.
The karyotype survey was carried out for eight species of Acrididae from Korea. Chromosomes were prepared from the testes of adult grasshoppers by the air drying technique, and examined in spermatogonial metaphase and spermatocytic meiosis. These karyotypes are classified into four groups according to their chromosome numbers; n=9, 2n=17 (Arcyptera coreana) : n=12, 2n=23 (Trilophidia annulata, Chorthippus brunneus, Oxya chinensis sinuosa, Shirakiacris shirakii, and Oedaieus infernalis) ； n= 13, 2n=25 (Locusta migrateria) ； and n=14, 2n=27 (Gastrimargus marmoratus). Typical XO male sex chromosome system of Orthoterans was reconfirmed by unpaired X chromosome at diakinesis in these eight species.
