Urban facilities are concentrated in densely populated areas due to urbanization and industrialization. Most cities have structural weaknesses and cannot prevent all natural disasters, fires, and calamities. Many places are also vulnerable to catastrophes, such as old houses standing close together. In Korea, the frequency of earthquakes has risen since the 1990s. As it has been reported that conflagrations triggered by earthquakes often lead to more injuries, fatalities and property damage in other countries, Korean urban regions are vulnerable to fires as well. As a result of experiments to evaluate the risk of fire spreading between buildings depending on the distance between buildings and the presence of eaves, jet inflame coming out of the opening of buildings has a great influence as the distance between buildings gets close, and high temperature and heat flux are shown due to heat accumulation when buildings has eaves.
