This study is on how the political discourse of the messages appear on the social media for
campaigns of political candidates for the election period. For this, it analyzes Twitter messages
of political candidates at Seoul Dong Jak Ul during 15 days, which is a period for political
campaigns for July 30th Re-Elections. Firstly, the formats of twitter linguistic messages of
political candidates are analyzed. Secondly, using semiotics, in-depth analysis is done related
to linguistic messages to know how the political discourse is formed.
Firstly, in regard to the message types, things for political campaign are mainly campaign
information and messages about supporting the candidate and emphasize the image of the
candidate through the daily messages.
Secondly, the candidates is trying to show political symbol thorough texts and images as a
means of political communication regarding the political discourse
The political communication through social media will play an important role in political
campaigns. The use of social media as PR media for political communication will be for the
formation of a long-term relationship with voters than short-term level for a strategic approach
for election.
