The purpose of this study was to acknowledge the importance of iliopsoas muscle, to search for an effective
treatment method, and then to prevent low back pain when low back pain (LBP) patients are being taken care of. For this
purpose, the iliopsoas muscle was treated through trigger point release technique, taping treatment and self-stretching
after examining the existence of its tightness. Thus, low back pain and the effects of each treatment method were compared.
The trigger point release technique group was 5.73±0.96 before experiment and 3.87±1.13 after examination. The taping
treatment group was 5.00±1.25 before examination and 3.13±0.80 after examination. The self stretching group was 5.40
±1.12 before examination and 4.40±0.99 after examination. The result of analysing the differences of Visual Analogue Low
Back Pain Scale (VALBPS)’s change before and after examination among groups showed that VALBPS’s change of the
taping treatment group increased more than that of the self stretching group (p<0.05). Thus it’s concluded that taping treatment
is decrease pain more than self stretching and trigger point release technique.
