This study investigates the effect of smoking cessation expectation and perception on the anxiety for subjects in smoking cessation clinics; the effect of self efficacy between cognition and anxiety; and provides fundamental data to set up the strategy for effective management of smoking cessation clinics. Data collection was conducted from 1st to 10th October, 2008 for 164 smoking subjects. The research tool used is a 72-item questionnaire that consists of 11 questions regarding general traits, 10 questions concerning smoking, 17 questions on the perception of smoking cessation clinics, 9 questions regarding expectations of smoking cessation clinics, 20 questions for anxiety, and 5 questions for self-efficacy. The data collected was analyzed for frequency and stepwise multiple regression using SPSS/PC program. For self-efficacy, the controling effect of expectation, perception and anxiety of smoking cessation was significant for smoking perception in step 1 (p<0.05), again for perception as a result of inputting the self-efficacy in step 2 (p<0.05) and for self-efficacy (p<0.05) after inputting the independent variable and dependent variable. Additional support is needed for subjects who use smoking cessation clinics to increase their self-efficacy and to deal with anxiety cause by cessation. Moreover, it is required to come up with an alternative method to increase self-efficacy.
