The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of informal learning activity on the
relationship between LMX and job involvement in lifelong educators. For doing so, this study used
‘LMX-MDM' (Liden & Maslyn, 1998), ‘Informal Learning Activity Inventory' (Choi, 2009), and
‘Job Involvement Scale' (Kanugo, 1982). A survey was conducted with 513 lifelong educators, taking
from October 17 to 31, 2014. 331 pieces of the questionnaire were collected and all of them was
used for data analysis. The results of this study were as follows: First, lifelong educators' LMX,
informal learning activity, and job involvement had positive correlation. Second, lifelong educators'
informal learning activity had mediating effect on the relationship between LMX and job involvement
(partial mediation). Based upon the results of this study, several suggestions were made to increase
lifelong educators' informal learning activity and job involvement.
