We analyzed the IMCA of the England. The purpose of the study is as follows. First, it identifies the
theoretical reasons for decision support. Secondly, it is to consider the type of system for the support
of self-determination referring to the British case. Research results are as follows. IMCA is not the role
of surrogate decision-making directly. Person is at the center, and the support part so as to be able to
their important decisions. We defined that such a system supported decision-making to, or is the type
of decision-making assistance. Adult guardianship system in Korea, which may be a proxy determining
systems, rather than this type, it is possible to further evaluate the democratic one step advanced method.
Direction of the development of the resulting decision support system throughout the study are as follows.
We must develop a system to support the advocacy activities of citizens as IMCA. Local governments
and social welfare workers, must be made with the advocacy organization the support system through
collaboration and cooperation. There is a need to create a specific alternative on infrastructure and public
support system for the self-determination support activities of the local community, such as IMCA training.
Also, to realize the persons will and choice, we should make arrangement of a support procedure and
specific programs for whose judgment ability is insufficient as IMCA service.
