The purpose of this study is to suggest an educational program to provide the professional staffs in
a day care center for the middle-aged and older adults with developmental disabilities, with effective
learning system which can help them to enhance the quality of their service at work.
There is a threefold process in this study. First, the study indicates the ideal approaches of educational
system for the staffs at a day care center for the middle-aged and older adults with developmental disabilities
by reviewing researches on a) the status reports of their performance; b) current number of personnels
working at the center; c) the need of systematic educational system for the personnel; and d) examples
of other educational systems used at such centers in other countries.
Secondly, through the research analyses, the study provides the evaluation of service qualities provided
by the staffs on FGI scale. Lastly, according to the analyses on the work performances of the personnels,
Delphi research was performed three times to identify the areas of weaknesses in educational systems
for the personnels and the hierarchy of the improve-needed areas.
As the result of this study, 22 programs were selected for educating the staffs in day care centers for
the meddle-aged and older adults with developmental disabilities. From the first Delphi survey 24 education
programs were suggested but 2 programs were excluded because those programs were not meet the standard
value. This study then indicates 10 educational programs that are uttermost important and urgent after
the second and third Delphi research by the panel of professionals in this field.
