This study is aimed to investigate and analyze the recognition on the teachers and parents
on the sexual psychology, sexual ethics, and sex education targeting the special class of a high
school in Gyeongsangnam-do and the recognition difference between two groups and to promote
the improvement of the recognition on the sex of the mentally-retarded students and provide
the basic materials on the sex education for the mentally-retarded students in the special class
of high school in the future. To examine the recognition of the parents and teachers on the sexual
psychology, sexual ethics, and sex education of the mentally handicapped students, the
questionnaire was carried out targeting 80 special teachers in the special class of a high school
in Gyeongsangnam-do and 80 parents with the mentally handicapped children. To calculate the
result of the questionnaire of which answers were completed, the cross analysis was conducted
to examine the recognition of teachers and parents following the variables and the recognition
difference between both groups. First, the education on the sex of the mentally handicapped
targeting the teachers and parents should be arranged in order to understand the distinctive
sexual desire and sexual psychology of the mentally-retarded students more objectively and
exactly. Two, to improve the position on the negative sexual ethics of the parents, the attitude
improving education should be provided targeting the parents for them to have the open and
right recognition and expectation on their children and the development of various programs will
be necessary. Third, to conduct the sex education successfully, the teachers and parents should
consult about the sex education of the mentally handicapped students positively and share the
opinions and the method to exchange the educational contents should be found.
