As the qualitative studies have been recently developed, various studies of teaching-learning process are
also conducted, so deeper understandings and reflections on it are provided. The qualitative studies related
with lessons often include narrative descriptions of interview contents and class processes, and
interpretations of the descriptions. Therefore, various kinds of analysis other than interpretative descriptions
should be understood. The analysis of class process can provide deeper understandings of teaching-learning
and furthermore, help to search the directions for better classes. The purpose of this study is to
introduce‘time-lined structure diagram analysis’ which can be effectively used by analytic study of class,
consulting and action research, and then, suggest the cases in which the analysis is applied to actual
classes. ‘Time-lined structure diagram analysis’ is a qualitative data analysis derived from the cognitive
anthropology. If a class can be examined by using ‘Time-lined structure diagram analysis’, the class
process would be illustrated visually. Hence, the mode of interactions between students and teachers in
the class and the process in which the class is progressed can be investigated. Moreover, various structures
of classes can be easily compared. This study in which ‘time-lined structure diagram analysis’ is applied
to actual cases is expected to a foundation of follow-up study.
