이 연구는 우리나라 고등학생의 대표성을 갖는 한국교육고용패널 데이터를 분석해 학생의 적성과 진로에 대한 교사의 관심이 학생들의 진로결정 여부에 미치는 효과를 분석하였다. 교사의 관심이 학생의 진로결정 여부에 미치는 인과적 효과를 추정하기 위해 이 연구에서는 경향점수매칭 방법과 함께 고정효과 모형을 활용해 관측 자료를 분석할 때 발생하는 자기선 택오류와 학교 간 차이를 통제하였다. 분석 결과 학생의 적성과 진로에 대한 교사의 관심은 고등학생의 대학 전공과 미래 직업 결정 여부를 증진시키는 데 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것 을 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 토대로 이 연구는 학생들의 적성과 진로에 대한 교사의 관심을 진작시킬 수 있는 교원지원 정책이 마련될 필요가 있다는 점을 논의하고 있다.
This study examined the effect of teachers' interest in the students' aptitude and future career on high school students' career plan based on the nationally representative sample of the Korean Education and Employment Panel (KEEP). Propensity score analysis with fixed effect model was used to account for the potential selection bias and create a demographically comparable samples to estimate the effect of teachers' interest. Analysis of KEEP(2005) revealed that students who received teacher's interest were more likely to have decided their career plan at senior year in high school. This study adds to the growing body of evidence that teachers' interest in students' aptitude and future career plan plays a significant role in enhancing career decision of high school students.
