최근에 들어 다문화 교육의 의미가 소수자를 위한 언어교육, 자국민 문화이해교육에서 문화 다양성, 다문화 감수성 함양을 위한 다수를 대상으로 하는 교육으로 확대됨에 따라 다수를 위한 교육, 즉 다수를 위한 실제적인 다문화교육에 대한 연구(프로그램 개발, 효과분석, 방향 설계 등)들이 요구되고 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 다수를 위한 다문화 교육프로그램, 다시 말해 다문화 감수성 함양을 위한 다문화 교육프로그램을 개발하여, 적용하고 실제적으로 어 떠한 효과가 있는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구에서 활용된 교육방법은 ‘문화예술기반 교육’ 으로, 이 방법이 다문화 감수성 함양과 어떠한 관련성을 가지고 있는지 먼저 이론적 근거를 찾아보았다. 그 결과 인지적, 정서적, 실천적인 측면과 관련성이 있고 교육과정 역시 구성주 의를 중심으로 연계가 가능하여 문화 예술기반 교육이 감수성 함양에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 것을 발견할 수 있었다. 이렇게 이론적 근거에 의해 설계된 본 교육프로그램을 일 반 초등학교의 학생을 대상으로 적용하여, 그 결과를 분석하였더니, 문화예술기반 교육은 다 문화교육에서 인지적, 정서적, 실천적인 측면에서 효과적임을 실제적으로 발견할 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 다문화 교육의 방법으로 문화예술기반 교육의 이론적 토대 및 설계방향을 제 안하고, 나아가 교육방법으로서 문화예술기반 교육이 다양한 영역의 교육에서 활성화 될 수 있는 토대를 마련하고자 한다.
Recently, as the meaning of multicultural education has expanded to signify language education for minorities, an understanding of cultural diversity in the cultural education of natives, and education conducted for the cultivation of the multicultural sensitivity of many, research of actual educational programs that can be applied to many people are being demanded. At this, the present study attempted to develop and apply a multicultural educational program for the masses, or in other words, a multicultural educational program for multicultural sensitivity, to see what effects such a program would have. The educational method that was used was ‘culture and arts based education’, which was closely related with the fostering of multicultural sensitivity and cognitive, emotional, and practical areas, and the educational courses could be connected around constructivism. It was discovered that culture and arts based education within applications of an educational program designed through theoretical bases was effective in multicultural education. Through these results, a theoretical basis and design direction for culture and arts based education were proposed using multicultural education methods and culture and arts based education is expected to be more actively utilized as an educational method in diverse areas of education.
