The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect on historical awareness of participation in
Korean folk dance, sogo-chum and tal-chum for elementary school student. The date were collected
from 48, 5th graders at S Elementary School in Incheon City and conducted a pretest and posttest
using a questionnaire. The experimental group was participated Korean folk dance, sogo-chum and
tal-chum, and the comparison group was participated general education 2 sessions per week, a total
of 20 sessions in 10 weeks. According to the results, there was the meaningful difference on the
interest and self consciousness of the history, but no meaningful difference in the national pride
development and the creative awareness of our culture.
