본 연구에서는 경기도 한 초등학교에 근무하는 교사들이 지역의 자원을 활용하여 개발한 STEAM 프로그램과 그 적용 과정을 살펴보았다. 교사들은 지역의 자원을 활용함으로서 기존의 학교 교육 에서는 불가능하였던 쉽게 접근할 수 있으며 흥미로운 소재를 다루는 과학교육을 기대하였다. 지 역의 인적 자원을 활용하여 최신 과학 기술과 전문 지식을 포함한 5개의 소주제로 총 20차시의 STEAM 프로그램을 구상하였다. 연구 결과 학생들은 STEAM 프로그램을 통해 과학에 보다 긍정적 인 태도를 형성하게 되였고, 교사들은 개발과정과 적용 단계에서 다양한 어려움을 겪었지만 동시 에 STEAM 교육의 필요성에 대해 공감하였다. 또한 교사와 학생의 반응 모두에서 지역 연계 수업 에 대해 교육적인 효과가 있다고 보였다. 이를 토대로 STEAM 교육이 학교 현장에서 활성화되기 위한 방안들을 제안하고자 한다.
The study looked at the process and its results until the community-based STEAM program developed and applied in elementary school in Gyeonggi. The results of this study were as follows. Students formed a more positive attitude to science through the STEAM program. Teachers showed sympathy for the needs of the STEAM program but, at the same time, experienced a variety of difficulties in the development and application steps. Also, both teachers and students answered that there is also an educational effect on community-based classes. Through this study, I hope to give suggestions on how to improve the development and application of STEAM program in each school so that STEAM education can be ongoing.
