The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of introversion-extroversion, locus of control, and
satisfaction of interpersonal relationship on the university students' self-esteem. Research subjects of this
study were 308 university students in Busan and Kyongnam area. The results of this study were as
follows: First, the mean score of introversion-extroversion was 3.40 out of 5, which means relatively high
on extroversion. The mean score of locus of control was 3.54 out of 5, which means relatively high on
internal control. The mean score of general relationship was 3.54 out of 5, relationship with parents was
3.89, relationship with professor was 3.38, and relationship with friends was 3.90 out of 5. Second,
variables that had significant influence upon self-esteem were relationship with friends(β=.288), general
relationship(β=.269), locus of control(β=.182), relationship with parents(β=.150), family income(β=.116,
β=.101), pocket money(β=.111), relationship with professor(β=.096), and third grade student(β=.089).
These nine variables accounted for 67% of the variance of university students' self-esteem. In conclusion,
this study shows that satisfaction of interpersonal relationships, locus of control, family income, pocket
money and grade are influential variables which accounted for university students' self-esteem.
