The educational world has recently carried forward the creativity and
personality education to prepare for future society. As such, this study aims to
search for an effective approach by inquiring into the effect of the art activity
accompanied by forest & meditation on creativity and personality of young
children. 20 five-year-olds were selected as the experimental group and the
comparison group. The experimental group was provided with the weekly art
activity accompanied by forest & meditation for 10 weeks, from the third week of
September, 2015.
T-test using SPSS was applied as pretest and posttest for creativity and
personality. The results are as follows: Firstly, young children actively participated
in meditation and art activity in the forest. Secondly, the art activity accompanied
by forest and meditation had a positive influence on creativity of young children.
Fluency and originality, which are sub factors of creativity, showed significant
improvement. Lastly, the art activity accompanied by forest and meditation had a
positive influence on personality of young children. All sub factors of personality
― basic life habits, self-establishment, sense of community, physical development,
and sociality ― have improved significantly. In conclusion, it suggests that the art
activity accompanied by forest and meditation, in which young children actively
participate, is a significant educational activity for creativity and personality
development of young children.
