The purpose of this study is to develop a character education program
utilizing meditation and artsplay. This program teaches teachers how to manage
their emotions, make peaceful relationships with children. And this research
consists theoretical lecture and meditation/artsplay practice.
Mindfulness meditation helps to make people stable, recognize what is
happening in their everyday life, and make them immersed on their tasks. Also, it
helps not to react keenly on their negative situation, and helps to have love and
understanding to others and themselves. Artsplay is meaningful education
curriculum that helps recover humanity through aesthetic activity.
I have developed the character education program based on the preceding
research, and then carried on 2 programs to find out effectiveness and field
application possibility of this project.
On the first project, we made special training program (30 hours) for
kindergarten, elementary, middle school teachers, and on the second project, we
went through character education program (15 hours) for kindergarten teachers. On
the survey and interviews after the project, the subjects felt necessity of this
program, and they thought this program can be applied on their school field.
The result of this study suggests character education program utilizing
meditation and artsplay is effective to both teachers and children, and also it can
be applied to the school filed.
