Thus, this study made an attempt, in keeping with the change in direction of the new art education lately, to graft
pop-up book formative activity, as a genre, onto the integrated education. This study aimed at finding a way that
could apply the pop-up book formative activity class to the integrated education, and at suggesting integrated
education that could develop emotion and intelligence through the integrated education program and promote
comprehensive thinking skills and harmonious development. The following are the research contents and methods to
attain these research purposes: Chapter I sets up the necessity and purpose of the integration through the pop-up
book formative activity. Chapter II studies the meaning and necessity of the integrated education, educational
functions of the integrated curriculum, the integrated education through art activity, concepts and history of the
pop-up book, integrated education through the making process and educational effects and theoretical backgrounds of
the pop-up book .Chapter, investigates the theoretical backgrounds of the characteristics of each stage of children
development in the art education, and studies general characteristics of children and children development and
characteristics of the schematic stage. Chapter III understands and classifies the expressive technique of the pop-up
book, and examines and explains its theoretical techniques. Chapter IV suggests as the efficient teaching guidance for
the integrated education of each field ‘the integrated art program for the pop-up book formative activity.’ Chapter V
summarizes based on the overall contents and describes conclusion. This study tried to increase the efficient availability
of the pop-up book formative activity in the integrated education, targeting 7-year-olds to 9-year-olds. Pop-up book
formative activity enables a variety of expression forms completed such as writing, reading, drawing and making. This
study suggested a program that could do the integrated education by applying the art expression technique satisfying
children’s curiosity and inquiring mind through this activity.
