본 연구는 학부모의 자녀교육 목표지향성(숙달목표지향성과 수행목표지향성), 자녀의 내재적 동기 와 외재적 동기, 자녀의 학업소진 간의 구조적 관계와 그 설명효과를 탐색하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 대상은 임의적으로 표집된 서울특별시, 경기도 및 강원도 내 중·소도시 및 농촌지역 소재 일반 고등 학교 학생 366명과 그들의 학부(父) 또는 학모(母)이다. 수집된 자료는 구조방정식 모형을 적용하여 분석하였다. 분석 자료로 상관계수 행렬이 사용되었으며, 모수추정을 위해 최대우도법이 적용되었다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학부모의 자녀교육 목표지향성이 모두 자녀의 내재적 동기 에 대한 설명효과가 매우 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학부모의 자녀교육 목표지향성 중 학부모의 자녀교육 숙달목표지향성은 자녀의 학업소진을 설명하는 의의 있는 예방적 변인으로 밝혀졌다. 반면, 학부모의 자녀교육 수행목표지향성이 자녀의 학업소진을 초래하는 변인일 것이라는 가설은 기각되었 다. 셋째, 자녀의 외재적 동기는 자녀의 학업소진을 높이는 의의 있는 변인으로 밝혀졌다. 마지막으 로, 자녀의 외재적 동기는 학부모의 자녀교육 숙달목표지향성과 자녀의 학업소진 변인 사이에서 유 의한 매개효과를 보였다.

영문초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the structural relationships of parents’ goal orientations for their children’s education to the children’s academic burnout and the mediating effects of the children’s intrinsic and extrinsic motivation on the relationships. The subjects of this study were 366 high school students and their parent(mother or father) sampled in Seoul Metropolis, urban and rural areas in Gyeonggi and Gangwon Province. The data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 22.0. The findings of the study are as follows. First, the higher levels of both parents’ mastery goal and performance goal orientation were associated with the higher levels of their children’s intrinsic motivation. Second, parents’ mastery goal orientation was a significant predictor for decreasing the levels of the children’s academic burnout. Parents’ performance goal orientation was not significantly associated with the children’s academic burnout. Third, the children’s extrinsic motivation was a significant variable to increase the levels of their academic burnout. Finally, the children’s extrinsic motivation was a significant mediator in the relations between parents’ mastery goal orientation and their children’s academic burnout.
