This study aims to identify the applicability of cognitive diagnosis models(CDMs) in order to
utilize the model in the field of psychological inspections and to suggest implications in seeking
measures for reducing maltreatments, and emotional and behavioral problems(EBP) provided by
the maltreatment. Thus, the study classified experimental groups on the basis of the
maltreatment’s longitudinal tendency, and applied the multi-group CDM. The subjects of the study
analysis were two groups; the first was 978 students from grades six to eight, and the second was
1,012 students from grades eight to ten. These two groups were found to be having pattern changes
in maltreatment from the data of KCYPS. The pattern changes of maltreatment were classified in
the criterion of maltreatment tendency over three years. As a result of the analysis, the group
that experienced consistent maltreatment for three years indicated high endorsement rate of EBP
throughout the three years, and the group that did not receive any maltreatment in three years
appeared to be having lower endorsement rate. The group that received gradually increasing
maltreatment showed growing endorsement rates of EBP and by contrast, the group that
experienced decreasing tendencies of maltreatment had steadily diminishing rates of endorsement.
This study, using the multi-group CDM, estimates parameters considering the distribution of
individuals in their subgroup, which enabled more precise estimation. The study also suggests the
application of the model in the field based on the advantages of utilizing the CDMs.
