Objective : The purpose of this experiment is to know the effects of spaced retrieval training with
errorless learning to attention span and memory of mild dementia people.
Methods : This study used MMSE-K to the patients of nursing home in Busan and select 10 mild
dementia patients. The experiment was performed from July 27, 2014 to August 17, 2014.
We divided the patient into two group, one as experimental and the other as comparison
group. Intervention was performed 5 times a week, for 4 weeks. This study used Trial
making test I, K-DRS and digit span test before and after intervention, then analysing the
results.
Results : In experimental group, the result of K-DRS is meaningfully increased from 9.0±4.69 to
13.0± 3.53, attention span score is also increased from 28.4±4.66 to 28.4±4.66 (p<.05). The
score of digit span test is meaningfully increased from 4.2±1.48 to 5.4±1.51 (p<.05).
Differences of trail making test I are also meaningful, –115.0±108.82 seconds in experimental
group and 81.6±81.75 seconds in comparison group (p<.05).
Conclusion : We confirm that errorless learning and spaced retrieval training are effective to attention
span and memory of mild dementia people.
