대학 졸업 후 첫 직장 진입에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요인 중 하나는 대학의 지명도이며 지방 사립 대학은 취업에 있어서 불리한 여건에 있다는 연구결과들이 보고되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 불리한 여건에도 불구하고 이를 극복하고 자신이 원하는 대기업에 취업하는 성공적인 사례들을 볼 수 있 다. 본 연구는 지방 사립대학 졸업생들이 성공적으로 희망 대기업에 취업하는 과정을 깊이 있게 이 해하려고 진행하였다. 이를 위해 다음과 같이 두 가지 연구문제를 설정하였다. 첫째, 지방 사립대 학 졸업생의 희망 대기업 과정의 진행단계는 어떠한가? 둘째, 지방 사립대학 졸업생은 희망 대기업 과정의 유형은 무엇인가? 연구를 위해 특정 지방 사립대학 졸업생들 중, 자신이 희망하는 300인 이상 대기업 및 공기관에 정규직으로 취업한 10명을 대상으로 심층인터뷰를 진행하여 근거이론을 기반으로 자료를 분석하였다. 자료 분석에는 Nvivo10을 이용하였다. 개방코딩 결과, 217개의 개 념, 32개의 하위범주, 14개의 범주가 도출되었다. 지방 사립대학 졸업생의 희망 대기업 과정의 진 행단계는 ‘자기 인식 단계 - 주도적 선택 단계 - 도전 실행 단계 - 대안 모색 단계 - 취업 성공 단 계’의 총 5단계로 나타났다. 또한, 유형 분석 결과 크게 ‘비약적 발전형’과 ‘디딤돌형’으로 구분되었 다. 세부적으로 ‘비약적 발전형’은 ‘공채 시험 합격형’과 ‘차별화 전략형’ 유형으로 나뉘고, ‘디딤돌형’ 은 ‘정규직 전환형’과 ‘경력직 도전형’으로 구분되었다. 본 연구가 취업지원 현장에 주는 의의는 지 방 사립대학 졸업생들이 성공적인 취업을 준비하는데 있어 자기결정성이 매우 중요하다는 것을 발 견하였다는 것과 취업성과에 사회적 지지가 중요한 영향을 미친다는 것을 확인하였다는 점이다. 따 라서 지방 사립대학에서 학생들의 취업지원을 위해서는 학생 개인의 자기결정성을 높일 수 있는 교 육의 제공 및 사회적 지지를 더욱 강화하는 지원 체계를 구축해야 할 필요성에 대해 제시하였다.
This study aims to deeply understand the process of employment for local private college graduates at large corporations through analyzing successful employment cases. According to several studies, the hierarchical level of college is one of the prime factors that affect a college graduate’s first employment and local private college graduates are placed under adverse conditions for employment. In order to get over these conditions and understand the process of successful employment of local private college graduates, the research questions set as follows. 1) What is the process of successful employment for local private college graduates at leading companies of their preference? 2) What are the types of successful employment for local private college graduates? In-depth interviews were conducted with 10 graduates among those participated in a recruitment program from a particular local private college who were employed by large corporations as they wished. Nvivo10 was used for data analysis. Based on grounded theory, 217 concepts, 32 subcategories and 14 categories were derived as a result of open coding. The process of successful employment for local private college graduates at leading companies of their preference was 'self awareness - autonomous decision - executing challenges - finding alternatives - successful employment.' As a result of type analysis, rapid growth type and steppingstone type were derived. Rapid growth type can be divided into passing examination type and differentiation strategy type; steppingstone type can be divided into regular employee conversion type and experienced hire type. The result of this study suggests what kinds of training and education are needed to support successful employment of local private college graduates. Also self decisiveness and social support are very important to successful employment. Therefore, employment training and support program that dolleges should have can be suggested.
