This study aims to analysis the fundamental data concering the practical intervention of a social
welfare aspects about foreign Assistance performed by governments, Enterprises, and developmental
welfare NPOs. This analysis of governmental Official Development Assistance(ODA), Corporate Social
Responsibility of Enterprise(CSR), and developmental welfare NonProfit Organization(NGO) shows the
following results:
First, bilateral grants of governmental ODA has preferrable to the multilateral grants dealing with
short-term projects which is similar investment areas with developmental welfare NPO’s: education,
healthcare, regional development area. Second, there are two types of CSR of Enterprise exists: market
development and social development types. The first is organized in a department of Enterprises itself
and the later is run by separated foundations. Third, the size of developmental welfare NPOs has
increased to 29,5% of total amount of foreign assistance by Korea to other countries. The projects
funded include(in the order of amounts donated) education, Healthcare, regional development,
agricultural and farming development, urgent relief, volunteering ares.
This study provides the directions of the contours and outcomes of Korea foreign assistance. In
addition, this results indicates the possibilities of practical intervention of social workers in the future.
