We investigated the association between personality self-assessment and child abuse perceptions of early
childhood teachers, and developed ideas to enhance personality self-assessment for the prevention of child
abuse. The study sample included 207 childcare teachers at daycare centers in the B Metropolitan city
and Gyeongbuk province. A questionnaire was distributed to them, and the data collected were subjected
to correlation and regression analysis using SPSS (v.18). We found correlations between the personality
self-assessment and child abuse perceptions of early childhood teachers. Second, their personality
self-assessment variables such as humanity, positive self-concept, social relation, job performance, and
creative personality had significant effects on child abuse perception variables including physical abuse,
emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and negligence. Thus, the more positive personality early childhood teachers
reported, the higher was their perception of child abuse prevention. Based on these findings, our study
presented in-depth discussions about enhancing personality self-assessment of teachers.
