This study sought to examine whether the awareness about the internal state plays the role of
intermediary effect in the course of art therapists’ careers influencing counter-transference management
ability and utilization. The subjects of this study were 178 art therapists, and the paper of art therapists’
careers, countertransference management ability measuring, countertransference utilization measuring and
internal state awareness measuring were utilized. The collected data were analyzed by using SPSS 17.0 for
Windows and correlation analysis, reliability analysis, frequency analysis and hierarchical regression analysis.
First, the other variables, except for the certificates and scholarly attainment among the art therapist careers,
significandy influenced countertransference management ability. Second, among the art therapist's careers,
the rest of the variables except for age, the certificates and scholarly attainment still had significant effects
on countertransference utilization. Third, it was shown that the certificate, the number of cases, age, the
number of treatment sessions among the art therapist careers about countertransference management
ability, and the interactive effects with internal state awareness also had a significant meaning. Fourth,
in countertransference utilization, the number of treatment sessions and cases in the art therapists’ careers
were also proven to be significant to the internal state awareness and interactive effects.
