issues and variables related to academic probation in college, and to prioritize needs of intervention for the
unsuccessful college students in academic achievement. The researchers had extensively searched the

variables. With regards to the extracted variables from the literature review, this study surveyed the
perceptions of experts in the Centers for Teaching and Learning(CTLs) of Korean universities. To find out
the needs of interventions for academic probation problem, which perceived by experts in CTLs, the study
used need analysis methods including t-test and the Locus for Focus Model. As the results, the research
trends were summarized according to the detailed criteria, and the characteristics of students on academic
probation were extracted. Through expert needs analysis, the result also showed that 14 variables should be
considered by priority to support students on academic probation. Based on the research findings, the
implications and suggestions for the future research and intervention were discussed.
