The objective of this study is to introductorily research how
Toegye Lee Hwang's study method focusing on Gyeong(敬) can be
applied to school moral education. The possibility to apply Toegye'
thought to moral education suggested by this study are eventually
connected to adolescents' human character development.
Under this objective, this study first, examined Toegye's thought
Gyeong in the aspect of moral education. Especially, the
correlations between Gyeong and the term ‘doing morality’ newly
appeared in <2015 moral education curriculum> were understood.
After that, this study introduced the reasons why school
education had interest in meditation, and then Gyeong was
interpreted in the aspect of Confucian meditation. The biggest
characteristic of Confucian meditation is that the realization of
moral nature and solution of moral issues are focused, and this
Confucian meditation could be eventually summarized into the term
Gyeong.
Lastly, this study sought for methods to apply Gyeong focusing
on to school moral education. In this
process, the pictures and explanations contained in
were structured into three steps in the aspect
of teaching-learning methods & goals, and also considerations in
the operation of the three steps were comprehensively suggested.
