This study aimed to explore the correlation between the Taekwondo and the personality education,
and to investigate the direction of Taekwondo training structure for the personality education. For
this purpose, this study selected 4 Taekwondo instructors and 2 elementary-school teachers as the
participants in this study and collected the relevant data through their interviews. And the collected
data was analyzed in using the methods of area analysis and classification analysis which were
suggested by Spradley(1979). In the section of ‘About Taekwondo Training’, this study drew the
Taekwondo’s educational meanings like its training structure, the discover of physical activity value
through the martial art training, the enhancement of individual and social personalities and the
formation of progressive life attitude. As the way to link the Taekwondo and the personality, this
study suggested that Taekwondo instructors needed to acquire the instruction strategies and
methods to add the personality in the Taewkwondo training on the premises of their clear
understanding the fact that Taewkondo education can enhance the personality education. Concerning
the direction of Taekwondo training structure for the personality education, this study drew that
Taekwondo instructor should operate a class based on his/her own educational philosophy, should
utilize the design structure of ‘understanding, experience and communication’ and the cooperative
learning’s structure. To develop a Taekwondo training structure to reinforce the trainee’s personality
will be helpful in expanding the instruction methods for the Taekwondo instructors and enhancing
the sound spirit and attitude through the martial art for the trainees.
