Korea has been had national curriculum. As the view about curriculum has been changed, teachers'
authority about curriculum has been enhanced and expanded since the 6th Revised National
Curriculum. Teachers have the duty and right not only to reconstruct curriculum in order to meet
students' needs and situations but also to interpret curriculum with critical view and to reflect it to
practice. However, all of these must be based on understanding about the curriculum. It is
necessary to know the meaning of curriculum terms to understand curriculum. Therefore, I
researched teachers' understanding about curriculum terms in 2009 Revised National Art
Curriculum. It is found that teachers have difficulties to understand the meaning of terms which
are used often in art education(sensitivity, systematic idea, perception) and important terms to
understand the art curriculum(communication, elements and principle of art, art criticism, art history,
perception). And, teachers answered that curriculum terms related with the concepts that have been
added recently in the art curriculum(visual culture, synethesia) and curriculum terms used to
describe ideal human images(multiple value, character building) are difficult to understand too.
