The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of social support of mothers of young children
and family strength on parenting efficacy. To this end, this study conducted correlation analysis and
multiple regression analysis after measuring mother’s social support, family strength, and parenting efficacy
on 343 mothers of 3∼5 year old children in 15 daycare centers located in Busan, and research results
and conclusion through discussion are as follows. First, there is a significant correlation between mother’s
social support, family strength, and parenting efficacy. Secondly, mother’s social support makes significant
effect on parenting efficacy. Thirdly, family strength makes significant effect on parenting efficacy. Fourthly,
among mother’s social support and family strength, healthiness of family makes the greatest effect on
parenting efficacy. Therefore, a wide range of research on establishing positive family environment that
relates to the personal environment of mothers and effective parenting method would be necessary to raise
parenting efficacy.
