이 연구에서는 전기학습 관점에서 은퇴 후 해외자원봉사활동을 다녀온 KOICA 해외봉사단 시니어 단원의 봉사활동 경험 이야기를 탐색해 보고 그 의미를 드러내 보고자 하였다. 질적연구방법론 중 내러티브 연구를 이용하였으며, 연구참여자를 대상으로 내러티브 인터뷰를 수행하여 연구자료를 수 집하였다. 수집된 자료는 연구참여자의 봉사활동 경험이 갖는 맥락성과 시간성에 천착(穿鑿)하여 전기학습의 관점에서 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 드러난 이야기의 의미는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구참여자들은 전기학습적 맥락에서 자신에게 주어진 삶의 상황에서 최선을 다해 학습하고, 자기 계발을 시도한 결과 능동적인 삶의 주체로서 자기의지적, 자기생성적인 성취를 경험하였다. 둘째, 전기학습 관점에서 봉사활동 전의 치열한 삶은 자연스럽게 성찰적 학습과정을 통하여 봉사활동으로 연결되었으며 봉사활동을 통해서 삶의 의미와 가치를 재발견하고 유의미한 변화를 경험하였다. 셋 째, 연구참여자의 삶을 통한 전기학습은 상호작용적이며, 사회적으로 구성되고, 개인적 경험을 통 하여 특정한 전기적 층을 이루어 개인적인 논리로 작용하였다.
The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences of KOICA overseas volunteer senior members who participated in volunteer abroad programs after the retirement from the perspective of biographical learning. Narrative inquiry was used for the research. Narrative interviews were implemented to collect data. The collected data were analyzed from the viewpoint of biographical learning by delving into the contextuality and temporality of voluntary service experience of the participants. The findings from this study are as follows; First, the research participants experienced self-willed and autopoietic achievement in the context of the life given to them by doing their best and trying to develop themselves. Second, from the point of view of biographical learning, intense life prior to volunteer activity naturally led to volunteer service through reflection learning process. Through volunteer activities, they rediscovered meaning and value of life and experienced meaningful change. Finally, biographical learning through the research participants’ lives was interactive and socially constructed, and functioned as an individual logic with a specific biographical layer through personal experience.
