학예(학문과 예술)의 세계는 교육을 통해 진보한다. 스승과 제자, 그리고 호각들이 교육의 고유한 질서에 맞도록 교류하는 가운데 학예의 세계가 위로 출람형 진보를 할 뿐만 아니라, 옆으로도 다채롭게 이숙형 진보를 한다. 그러나 교육의 자연스러운 생리에 어긋나는 방식으로 교류할 경우에는 학예의 교육적 진보를 가로막는 걸림돌들이 출현한다. 피타고라스 스캔들은 스승이 제자의 동행만을 요구하고, 새로운 길을 찾아 이행하는 제자들을 파문할 때 생긴다. 반면 다이달로스 콤플렉스는 자신과 교육적으로 교류할 수 있는 호각을 일인자 자리를 놓고 싸워야 하는 적수로만 볼 때 발생한다. 학예의 세계는 다양한 학파들과 유파들이 생겨나 경합 하는 가운데 진보한다. 피타고라스 스캔들과 다이달로스 콤플렉스는 이를 가로막는다. 이들 진보의 걸림돌들을 넘어서려면 제자가 스승과 하나가 되어 동행하는 동화의 교육만이 아니라, 제자가 스승과 다르게 이숙하거나, 호각들이 서로 다르게 이숙하여 이행하는 이화의 교육도 교육의 자연스러운 면모로 보아야 한다.
Academic disciplines and arts have progressed through educational activities and exchanges between master, pupil and rivals. Educative progress of academic disciplines and arts takes place in two types such as vertical progress and horizontal progress. Vertical progress comes about by pupil excelling his master in their common realm of academic disciplines or arts. This educational outcome is possible by education for assimilation that pupil follows his master’s lessons and instructions faithfully. Horizontal progress comes about by pupil creating his own academic or artistic position different from his master’s. The educational activities of pupil and master making horizontal progress can be called education for differentiation. Pythagoras scandal and Daedalus complex are two typical obstacles to prevent educative progress of academic disciplines and arts. These obstacles come from confusing vertical progress and horizontal progress or education for assimilation and education for differentiation. If two types of progress or education would be respected as two essential faces of educative progress or educational activities, Pythagoras scandal and Daedalus complex could be successfully resolved.
